Tuition, Housing, and Living Costs
Tuition and Fees Cost (2007/2008)Graduate students who are Michigan residents pay tuition of $378.75 per semester credit, and nonresidents pay $800. Matriculation (registration) fees per semester are $373 (1-4 credits) or $466 (5 or more credits). Graduate students are charged a $3.00 FM Radio Station tax, a $5.00 State News tax (if taking 6 or more credits), a $7.25 COGS tax, and a $98 energy charge (5 or more credits; $49 for 1-4 credits). All International Students are assessed an International Student Registration Fee of $25.00. Housing Costs (2007/2008)Owen Graduate Center has furnished rooms, including linens and private telephones. Occupants of two rooms share an adjoining bathroom and shower. Housekeeping service is provided on a weekly basis. Owen room rates are $2,954 per semester for a single, depending on room size. The rates include a $300 credit for food purchases. MSU also has more than 2,000 partially furnished one- or two-bedroom apartments on campus for married students and their families. Rates for a remodeled one-bedroom apartment are $630/month; the two-bedroom rate is $699/month. Estimated Total Expenses (2006/2007)The department has prepared a table with estimated graduate student expenses, which covers 12 months (Fall Semester of 2006 and Spring and Summer Semesters of 2007).
