Annual Funds

The MSU Department of Agricultural Economics has six annual funds, meaning the contributions are spent for the stated purpose within a year or two of the donation.

Unrestricted Discretionary Fund

The Chair's discretionary fund provides funding for scholarships, technology upgrades, student activities and much more. Most donors designate their gift to the discretionary fund, giving the Department Chair the flexibility to spend funds on the highest priorities or new opportunities that arise during the year. The department asks each alumnus and many friends to consider making annual gifts to support our mission. A gift to the department is an excellent way to show your appreciation and provide extra resources for current students and faculty to continue the tradition of high academic achievement, strong communication skills and sound leadership.

Undergraduate Funds

The Department of Agricultural Economics asks alumni and friends to consider making annual gifts to support our undergraduate mission. A gift to the department is an excellent way to show your appreciation and provide extra resources for current students and faculty to continue the tradition of high academic achievement, strong communication skills and sound leadership.

Agricultural Economics Undergraduate Programs Fund

The Agricultural Economics Undergraduate Programs fund provides monetary support for technology upgrades, student activities and much more within the undergraduate program in the Food Industry Management, Agribusiness Management and Environmental and Economics Policy majors. Gifts to this fund give the Department Chair the flexibility to support the highest priorities or new opportunities that arise within the undergraduate program during the year.

Food Industry Management Student Enhancement Fund

The Student Enhancement Fund provides monetary support to the undergraduate programs for activities that enhance students’ learning opportunities, such as:

  • Student career development programs, such as the career seminar etiquette dinner

  • Recruiting initiatives, to recruit great high school talent into the majors
  • Industry relation functions such as travel and conferences to develop long-term relationships with the employers that hire our graduates
  • Development of future alumni events to keep you in contact with MSU.
