Making PDFs from Existing Files in Room 403

Making a PDF from an existing document is very similar to printing it, but instead of choosing a LaserJet printer you "print" it to the Adobe PDF printer. Rather than print your document to paper, it will create a PDF file!

  1. Open your document in the program you used to create it, such as Word or PowerPoint.
  2. Click File | Print from the menu.
  3. Change the printer to Adobe PDF.
  4. Print the document. You should see a file dialog similar to the one below. (If you don't see the dialog, it may be behind your current window; find an item called Print to File in the Windows taskbar at the bottom of the screen and click on it.)
  5. Find the folder you want to save your PDF in, name your file and click Save.
  6. Open your new PDF and inspect it for formatting problems. Occasionally objects will jump or move, especially in documents with many equations, tables or graphs or with tight margins.
