Dr. Bill Taylor, Chair of the Dept of Fisheries and Wildlife, has been named as a recipient of the Ralph H. Smuckler Award for Advancing International Studies & Programs at MSU. The Smuckler Award is presented by International Studies & Programs to recognize faculty members who have made significant & lasting impacts on the advancement of international scholarship, teaching and public service at MSU. The award will be presented at the International Awards Ceremony, a free event to which the public is invited: International Awards Ceremony, Wednesday, March 29, 2006, Reception 3:30 p.m. Program 4:00 p.m.; 303 Delia Koo International Academic Center, MSU.
Dr. Kelly Millenbah, Associate Director of the Environmental Science & Policy Program and Associate Professor in the Dept of Fisheries and Wildlife has been named as a recipient of the Outstanding Faculty Woman Award by the Faculty-Professional Women’s Association of MSU. The award recognizes outstanding achievements of faculty women each year. The award will be presented at the FPWA Awards Dinner, a paid event that colleagues are encouraged to attend. Faculty-Professional Woman’s Association Awards Dinner, Tuesday, April 11, 2006, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

FIRST ANNUAL “MADE IN MICHIGAN FESTIVAL”
Presenting 2006 “MADE IN MICHIGAN” FESTIVAL
May 20th – 21st , In Old Town Lansing.
During Michigan week, the MSU Product Center is offering an opportunity to be involved in the first annual “Made in Michigan” festival. This event is aimed at promoting Michigan’s finest and diverse products and will be held over two days in the beautiful Old Town district of Lansing on the banks of the Grand River. Clients will be able to get a jump-start on the craft and festival season and sell products directly to the general public. This event will be extensively promoted and will attract great interest from the mid-Michigan community. The exhibit area will be a covered tent with sides. We have reserved 35 spaces within the tent for Product Center clients at discounted exhibitor prices, providing our clients the chance of a lifetime. Become involved in what I believe to be one of the best organized events in many years for “Made in Michigan” products.

PAID INTERNSHIPS With the Foreign Agricultural Service In USDA
We are looking for a few outstanding senior and graduate level college and university students to work in our OVERSEAS offices to promote U.S. agricultural interests through the International Agricultural Internship Program (IAIP) for FALL, 2006. The USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service, places about 10 students for each semester (fall, spring & summer) with excellent analysis, marketing, writing, language & organizational skills and experience to work on int’l agricultural trade policy issues, commodity & market analysis & organizing trade events for a 10-16 week PAID INTERNSHIP. U.S. citizen students who are majoring in a business or science related agricultural field, i.e. Ag Econ, Econ, Finance, Business or Marketing, International Studies or Relations, Law or in a Biotechnology Program are eligible. Online registration for the fall semester closes APRIL 17, 2006. The spring 2007 application deadline is Aug. 18, 2006 and the summer 2007 application deadline is Jan. 9, 2007.
Graduates with undergraduate and/or graduate degrees that have excellent background, experience & interest in econ. and intern’l agri. trade are encouraged to apply to the Foreign Agricultural Service's Career Internship Program (CIP). During the two-year internship, interns work as full time employees with substantial training and rotation opportunities. Upon successful completion, interns are offered permanent career positions. The deadline for the CIP is June 15, 2006.
