CONDOLENCES
We lost a great colleague and friend on Friday, Feb. 17,
Jerry Haarer, the first Director of Land Management at MSU, peacefully passed away in the company of his wife and children, in Naples, Florida. Funeral services are being held today, in Naples.
Jerry's prodigious contributions to Michigan agriculture and to this University ensure that he will be remembered as one of our true visionaries. He was also a man of great humility who, throughout his 21
years at Michigan State, earned a reputation for unimpeachable integrity and institutional loyalty. Jerry was the consummate team player--a man who embodied the land grant ethos not only in his work, but in the manner in which he conducted his entire life.
The Haarer family has announced that a memorial service will be held Sat., Feb. 25, at St. John Student Parish, 327 M.A.C. Ave. in East Lansing beginning at 10:30 a.m. The family has asked that those wishing to can make memorials to the Livestock Industry
Scholarship Fund in memory of C. Gerald Haarer and sent to John Shelle, Animal Science Dept., 1250 Anthony Hall, MSU, East Lansing, MI 48824.
The Lansing State Journal has published several articles on Jerry's contributions to MSU that can be read online.
