Nov. 30 – Wed., 3:30 pm, Room 75 Ag Hall. Agenda items will include (1) presentation by Soji Adelaja and (2) discussion of the Undergraduate Program as related to the Department's strategic planning.

THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY
Please be reminded that the University will be closed for business Thursday and Friday, Nov. 24 and 25 to celebrate Thanksgiving, a national holiday. The University will re-open for business Mon., Nov. 28.
AG ECON DEPT HOLIDAY POTLUCK
For everyone in the Dept of Ag. Econ. Please hold the date of Tuesday, Dec. 6, 12:00 noon for the
Dept's annual holiday potluck. We will be using both Room 75 and the Ag Hall Atrium. We have our usual variety of fantastic yummies by sending out a list of suggested food items later.
We will need some volunteers to help with the logistics of our party. Please contact Scott Swinton or Ann Robinson to help with: -set up before the party; -clean up after the party; -decorate Room 75 and tables (about 10 tables); and -handle music for Room 75 and the Atrium.
NEW ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR MAES
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Douglas Buhler will become the Associate Director of the Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station and Associate Dean for Research for the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, pending final approval of the Provost's Office. CAMPUS SUSTAINABILITY SEMINAR
Nov. 28 - Dr. Kevin Lyons, Director of the Purchasing Department and Research Professor of Supply Chain Environmental Management at Rutgers University, will speak on Nov. 28 at 3:30 pm in Rm. 300 Human Ecology Bldg. His topic will be: “Greening the Campus Through Supply Chain Environmental Management and Green Purchasing Strategies While Educating the Next Generation of Environmental Leaders.” This event is free of charge and open to the public.

University of Wyoming, (Laramie) Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics, is seeking for an Assistant Professor in Wildlife Resources and Livestock Systems Economics; nine-month, tenure-track position, 50% teaching, 50% research; specifically addresses the economic opportunities to research design, management, and risks of the interface of wildlife and livestock production systems; emphasis is put upon food and fiber production with risk/biosecurity management, relating to animal diseases and wildlife recreation trade-offs, that impact or enhance production systems. Teaching will include three to four courses per year with emphasis on quantitative methods, wildlife resource economics, recreation resource economics, and rangeland resource economics. Additional responsibilities include academic advising of undergraduates and graduate students as well as direction of MS thesis projects. Research responsibilities require developing a nationally recognized program for biological production systems related to economic profitability and sustainability constrained by production and policy oriented-regulatory risks. The program could include work in the areas of livestock and wildlife systems, predation mitigation, animal disease control as well as system design and decision models. Ability to use and analyze spatial data is important. The incumbent will be expected to pursue external grant funding, supervise research assistants and/or associates, publish in regionally/nationally recognized refereed journals and develop a nationally recognized program of research. Required: Ph.D. in Economics or Agricultural & Applied Economics with specialization in natural resource and environmental economics, livestock/wildlife production economics and quantitative methods; knowledge of appropriate theory and risk analysis applications; willingness to work in a multidisciplinary context on issues related to the structure and management of biological production systems; work with spatial data and develop spatially distributed models using Geographic Information Systems tools would be a valued assets.
