PUBLIC LECTURE

May 27 - Leonard Shabman, Resident Scholar, resources for the Future, Washington, DC and Professor Emeritus at Virginia Tech.  How Should water be managed in response to growth? Today public debates over where water will flow, when it will flow and to what uses it will flow has become a protracted, costly and conflict-ridden process.
Seminar will be May 27, 9 to 10:15 a.m. at the James B. Henry Center, Lansing. This lecture is the fifth in a series of seminars focusing on water resource issues in Michigan and the Great Lakes region. For more info on the series, go to: www.environment.msu.edu/water.

MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY is seeking for an  Assistant Extension Professor , non-tenure track,  Specialization in Fisheries in the Dept. of Wildlife & Fisheries.  This faculty position will provide leadership for a statewide fisheries extension education program for landowners, youth, sports people, fisheries biologists, general public, and natural resources organizations. The Assistant Extension Professor will develop aggressive and proactive educational programs for adults and youth that address current and future fisheries and natural resource needs and issues in Mississippi.  Required:  An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) degree in Fisheries Management or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning; experience in developing, coordinating, and implementing youth fisheries educational programs & related activities; demonstrated grantsmanship; and a working knowledge of program delivery through multiple media avenues (internet, video, distance learning, etc.). Candidates who are ABD will be considered for this position.  Screening will begin on June 10, 2005 and will continue until the position is filled.

UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY, Cooperative Extension, Dept. of Ag. Econ., is seeking for an Extension Specialist for Farm Management  Bluegrass Region (Req. #AG506640); Full-Time.  Required:  M.S. in Ag. Econ. or closely related field with a major interest in farm management.  This position is located in Versailles, Kentucky and serves the Bluegrass Region. The Specialist will work in the Association of the Kentucky Business Management Program, (KFBM) to provide farm financial record analysis and objective farm management counseling to approximately 50 farmer cooperators in a multicounty area (75% of his/her professional time). Will assist in statewide analysis of farm financial data. Will work with faculty, agents and other farm related agencies to develop educational programs for farmers (25% of professional time). Experience in farm management applications of micro computers is desirable. Ability to work effectively with farmers and other specialist is essential.  Deadline: June 2, 2005.
