VISITING SCHOLAR
The Department would like to welcome Mr. Eduardo Ramirez.  He is our visiting scholar from Chile and will be in Room 219-#7 through January 2006.

CONGRATULATIONS
      I am pleased to announce more accolades to our department.  We have been notified that Judy Whipple is the recipient of the Howard and Lili Ann Cambden Endowed Teacher/Scholar Award.
      We also have winners in our Undergraduate Advising Office Team of Karen Reynolds, Chris Stiles, Larry Zink and, formerly, Rose Lilly who were selected to receive a Certificate of Recognition for All-University Excellence in Diversity for their Team Efforts in Emerging Progress.

USED CELL PHONES
CTU Member/Community Services Committee and CTU Union Representatives are collecting old or used cell phones. Donate your old or unused cell phones for MSU Safe Place. They will be reprogrammed to call 911 and given to domestic abuse victims for emergency use.

Deadline for donation:  May 1, 2005

Donations can be dropped off to Anne Brooks in 160 Ag Hall or at CTU, 3498 E. Lake Lansing Rd, Suite 100, East Lansing between the hours of 7:30am and 6pm (M-Th), 8-5 (Fri).

NORTH DAKOTA STATE UNIVERSITY (Fargo), Dept. of Agribusiness and Applied Economics, is extending the search deadline for a faculty position in Agribusiness and Applied Economics, with associated responsibilities as Director of the Quentin Burdick Center for Cooperatives.  Although the university is seeking an experienced individual for this position, junior applicants with research, teaching, and outreach interests in agribusiness, industrial organization, and Cooperatives are encouraged to apply. VIRGINIA POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE AND STATE UNIVERSITY, is seeking for an Assistant/ Associate/ Full Professor of Agricultural and Applied Economics; a tenure-track, academic year position in the economics of consumer behavior, nutrition, and health. This position is a research and teaching appointment; available July 1, 2005. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and will include a start-up package and summer salary for the first two years of appointment.  Required: Doctorate in agri./applied econ. or econ., with emphasis in the areas of consumer demand, nutrition, or health econ. preferred; develop a nationally recognized research program in consumer behavior, market structure in food & health industries and/or nutrition and health policy; strong quantitative skills & training in micro-economic theory; Teach courses in applied econometrics;  research topics include impact of health boosting products & foodstuffs, and the econ. of product identification, safety assurance and marketing along the supply chain; working within new multi-disciplinary program on obesity prevention & management. This new program is currently hiring eight new faculty positions in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
