AG HALL GENERATOR TESTING
Physical Plant personnel will be testing the emergency generator at AG HALL.  This will require Physical Plant electricians to have the life safety systems power off on Fri., March 11 from 7am to 7:45 am. This shutdown will affect stairwell lighting, exit lighting, fire alarm systems, phone systems and any other equipment on generator.  This shut down will not affect normal building power.  If you have any questions, contact John Nurenberg at 2-0509, or Mike Ramirez, at 2-0540, M-F, 8 am to 4:30 pm.

ANR WEEK LUNCHEON

MSU PRODUCT CENTER WORKSHOPS
The MSU Product Center is sponsoring six workshops around the state in March entitled:  Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Agriculture, Good & Natural Resources: Creating an Idea You can Profit From."  These workshops are primarily for producers and producer groups who want to develop new value-added products or businesses in agriculture, food, & natural resources , though the content of this program applies to others as well  in related business areas.

MSU NEW EXTENSION DIRECTOR
Dr. Tom Coon
, Associate Dean for graduate and international programs for the College of Ag. and Natural Resources, has been appointed Director of MSU Extension, effective March 1, pending confirmation by the USDA.  He will replace Maggie Bethel who served as acting director, then director of MSUE for more than four years.

Dr. Coon has been a member of the MSU faculty since 1989. He has an extensive background in teaching and research, and serves in numerous professional societies concerned with aquatic habitat, wildlife ecology and fisheries and much more.

I want to express my gratitude to the search committee, chaired by Dr. Lynn Harvey, associate director for operations in MSUE, for its outstanding service and want to thank everyone who has provided input during the selection process.

I would also like, once again, to thank Maggie Bethel for her tremendous dedication and the excellent work that characterized her tenure as director of MSU Extension. We owe her an enormous debt of gratitude.---Jeffrey Armstrong, Dean

FOOD AND RESOURCE ECONOMICS INSTITUTE
, Copenhagen, Denmark, seeks to appoint two Research Directors for two of the following Research Departments:  International Economics & Policy;  Consumption, Nutrition and Ethics;  Food Production, Technology & Productivity; and Environment, Natural Resources and Regional Development. The Departments conduct research at an international level in the field of food and natural resource economics. Theoretical and quantitative economic models are developed and cooperation takes place within the scientific disciplines and with research and education agencies on a national as well as an international level.

WEST VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY, Bureau of Business and Economic Research, is seeking for an Economist to work collaboratively with other Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER) economists on extramurally funded economic research projects. The projects may include econ. impacts, labor market, econ. development, industry analysis, public finance, forecasting and other related research areas. Responsibilities include basic econ. research using advanced economic theory and research methodologies; access and preparation of data from surveys, internet, and other sources; preparation of graphics and presentations using predetermined program/ project standards and requirements; preparation of written reports, research monographs, and articles including project reports and BBER publications; and etc.  Required:  ability to apply economic theory & research methodologies and knowledge of Microsoft Office; strong communication skills;  knowledge of IMPLAN, ArcView, and econometric software (SAS, EViews, Stata) highly desirable. Education: a master's degree in econ., resource econ., or a related field and one year experience. A bachelor's degree in econ. and at least two years experiences in a comparable econ. research environment is substitutable for the master's degree.
