October 29 th : Costumes required. Party with us: its free; its in Ag Hall atrium; its masquerade ball with a costume contest; theres music and dancing; free food and candy; games & even a floral arrangement making table; and its from 5 to 8 p.m. Sponsored by the Bailey Scholars Program.
MUSICAL PERFORMANCE
Saturday evening, Oct. 30th, 8 p.m. at The Wharton Center, The MSU Choral Union and combined Choruses are singing The Creation by Haydn, with the Lansing Symphony. It is one a most beautiful piece of choral music....... Three wonderful soloists, including Richard Fracker of the Met. Opera. I believe there will be a chorus of about 175 singers. This is going to be an awesome performance. Hope to see some of you there. --Patricia M. Johannes
CANR OLYMPICS
The 2004 ANR Olympics are Thurs., Nov. 11 at the MSU Pavilion on the corner of Farm Lane and Mt. Hope Road. Festivities are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. once check-in is complete and should be wrapping up well before 10 p.m., depending on the speed of events. We are seeking your help and participation in this year's games. There are two ways to take part. A limited number of judging places are available. Talk with fellow faculty members and form a team, or simply register individually and we will team you up with your colleagues. Teams must be comprised of 3 ladies and 3 gentlemen. NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY , Dept. of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ARE), seeks to fill four tenure-track (nine- month) research (50%) and teaching (50%) positions; three at the Assistant Professor level in (1) Microeconomics, (2) International Trade, and (3) Industrial Organization, and one at Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level in (4) Natural Resource, Environmental, Micro-econometrics. Assistant Professors should expect to receive the Ph.D. prior to the start of the appointment. Tenured applicants' qualifications for appointment include outstanding research accomplishments and publications, and recognition for distinguished teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Classroom responsibilities will include teaching (two courses per year) at the undergraduate and/or graduate level (in the Economics Graduate Program). NORTH DAKOTA STATE UNIVERSITY , Dept. of Agribusiness & Applied Economics, is seeking for an Assistant/Associate faculty in Economics; tenure track, 9 month academic year appointment; will develop leadership in the departments research & teaching programs in applied microeconomics; Teaching may include principles of microeconomics, intermediate microeconomics, a senior level elective course, and microeconomics courses at the graduate level; teaching load will be five courses per year. Required: An earned Ph.D., or completion of Ph.D. by Aug. 1, 2005, in econ. or a closely related field; effective teaching; ability to conduct research and disseminate results in leading academic journals; and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Available: Aug. 15, 2005. Deadline: Screening will begin Jan. 15, 2005 and continue until filled. The successful candidate will teach one undergraduate course in Cooperative businesses, as well as additional undergraduate and/or graduate courses in agribusiness or industrial organization consistent with departmental needs. Excellent communication skills are necessary both for effective on-campus teaching and for outreach activities associated with the QBCC. Required: Ph.D. in Agribusiness, Agricultural Econ., Econ., or a related field; Experience in teaching, research, and/or Extension outreach related to the agribusiness industry, industrial organization, and Cooperatives; Demonstrated ability in securing & administering external funds; and Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
