Graduate Student Internship
E3 Network’s internship program offers graduate students in economics the opportunity to engage real world environmental issues during the summer months. Interns are paired with other economists in the E3 Network and/or with non-profit organizations to conduct research during the summer months. Recent interns have worked with the World Wildlife Fund, Environmental Defense Fund, Food and Water Watch, Natural Resources Defense Council, Union of Concerned Scientists, International Rivers Network, Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, Conservation Strategy Fund, Marine Conservation Biology Institute, Clean Air-Cool Planet, Forest Guild, Center for Environment and Population, Stockholm Environment Institute, Global Development and Environment Institute, Ecotrust, and The Trust for Public Land. Michigan State University Extension (MSUE) seeks a qualified candidate to provide leadership and educational programming expertise in alignment with the Sustaining Community Prosperity (SCP) workgroup within the Greening Michigan Institute. The position will be based in Baraga County, Michigan with educational program responsibilities for, primarily, the nine counties of the Western Upper Peninsula (MSUE District 1) with coordination responsibilities with designated GMI statewide work groups as assigned. University of Wisconsin-River Falls, College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences, Department of Agricultural Economics has two positions opened. First Position: A tenure-track undergraduate faculty position (100% teaching) at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics. Second position: Assistant or Associate Professor in the Agricultural Economics Department with specialization in farm-level agricultural finance. This 50% teaching and 50% extension position will have a partial appointment in the Center for Dairy Profitability (CDP) at UW-Madison and will be supervised by the chair of the Agricultural Economics Department. University of Illinois. Postdoctoral Researcher to participate in ongoing research that aims to understand the economic incentives for producing biofuel crops under risk and uncertainties, the design of contractual arrangements and policies to promote adoption and the economic, environmental and land use implications of biofuel production. Candidates should have Ph.D in agricultural economics, environmental and resource economics, energy economics, operations research or related field. Excellent mathematical and computational skills and experience in numerical simulation models will be necessary. Knowledge of GIS and econometrics and ability to undertake spatially explicit analysis is desirable. A demonstrated ability to produce quality research output, a strong publication record, excellent verbal communication skills and an interest in working with researchers from other social and environmental sciences will be among the selection criteria.
